Gary Spahn has spent his career in progressively more responsible positions in the management of depository institutions, interim and turnaround management, private investment banking, corporate governance and consulting. While completing his MBA from Miami University, where he received his B. S. in Economics, Gary began his banking career as a Commercial Banking Officer at Northern Trust. After managing Correspondent, Middle Market and Asset Recovery divisions at other major Chicago banks and earning his diploma from The Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, he became Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending and Credit in the Midwest for Standard Chartered Bank, U. K. and its U. S. subsidiary, Union Bank of California. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at local colleges teaching courses in Financial Statement Analysis, Bank Operations, Money & Banking, Corporate Finance and Micro Economics.

Mr. Spahn left Standard Chartered to become Executive Vice President of Metter, Marks & Associates, a turnaround management firm. Shortly thereafter, he established his own firm and expanded into interim management, mergers & acquisition, and private investment banking. He was appointed President of Southeast Collection Company, Tulsa, OK, a liquidator of consumer installment sales contracts; Chairman of Palisade Savings Bank, FSB, Ridgefield Park, NJ; Director and Chairman of the Audit committee of State Home Savings Bank, FSB, Bowling Green, OH; and President and Chief Executive Officer of Regency Affiliates, Inc., Bannockburn, IL, a public natural resources company. He formed and capitalized an investment company which later became Lakes Region Bancorp., Inc, and acquired the Anchor Bank in Grayslake, IL, where he initially served as President. While serving as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the holding company and Chairman of the bank, he opened a new branch and acquired an existing branch from a Thrift.

Most recently, Gary has focused on executive development and career management. While he has directly managed or had executive responsibility for most of the functional areas of banking, this recent consultative experience completes his unique qualifications to assist executive management and directors in selecting and recruiting outstanding leaders for their futures.

The Spahns are long time residents of Chicago’s North Shore.
