Gary Knight has 25 years of experience practicing law with extensive experience representing hospitals and medical groups in a broad range of business and health care issues. Gary joined Via Christi Health System in 2002 as Associate General Counsel and became Vice President for Legal Services and General Counsel in 2006. Representing VCHS and its constituent entities, Gary has handled legal affairs for the acquisition and implementation of Via Christi eCare-ICU (eICU), the sale of Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical Center, lease and acquisition transactions, compensation and physician transaction policies, a physician group compensation and governance reorganization, several joint venture projects and physician and executive employment contract forms in addition to various health system internal matters.
Prior to joining VCHS, Gary was a partner at Foulston Siefkin, LLP, having first joined the firm in 1981 as an associate. He was team leader of the firm's Health Law Practice Group and represented hospital and physician clients in operational, transactional and regulatory matters. He counseled clients on Stark and Anti-Kickback matters and has extensive experience structuring contracts and transactions in compliance with the requirements of those statutes. He assisted clients in finding common sense solutions to day-to-day business matters. With broad experience in general business and real estate, Gary previously served as team leader of Foulston Siefkin's General Business Practice Group. He was co-chair of the firm's Finance Committee and Health Insurance Committee.
A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Washburn Law School in Topeka, Kan., where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Washburn Law Journal, Gary also holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Kansas State University. He is a past-president of the Kansas Association of Hospital Attorneys and enjoys Martindale-Hubbell's highest peer rating of AV (very high to preeminent). |
