As General Counsel for El Paso Electric Gary D. Sanders is responsible for directing EPE's legal affairs as well as for EPE's compliance with federal securities laws NYSE regulations and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Previously Sanders served as Assistant General Counsel at EPE. Before joining El Paso Electric Sanders was an attorney in private practice with Gordon & Mott P.C. as well as with Kemp Smith Duncan & Hammond both of El Paso. He received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Texas Tech University School of Law and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from West Texas A&M University.
Sanders serves on the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of El Paso and is a former president of the Board of Directors of the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation. He has also served as a member of the of the Capital Campaign Steering Committe for the Center Against Family Violence.
