As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Tanner is responsible for the strategic direction of operations and business development, the ongoing operations and production of the company, and managing Enerplus' portfolio of properties through the identification and completion of attractive mergers, acquisitions, and divestments.
Prior to this appointment in April 2006, Mr. Tanner was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He also previously served as Senior Vice President, Business Development for Enerplus Global Energy Management ("EGEM") and had performed interim duties as COO since February 2002. Mr. Tanner has been affiliated with Enerplus since August 2000 when he was part of an acquisition team that purchased EGEM on behalf of El Paso Energy.
Previous to Enerplus, Mr. Tanner was a Senior Vice President for EnCap Investments, L.C., a leading oil and gas private equity firm and wholly-owned subsidiary of El Paso Energy in Houston, Texas. Prior to joining EnCap in 1997, he worked for 13 years in various upstream engineering and management positions with Exxon Company, USA.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering (1984) from the University of Kansas and a Masters degree in Business Administration (1997) from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Tanner is on the board of Bear Ridge Resources Ltd., a publicly traded junior oil and gas company in Calgary. |
