Garrard Beeney has litigated cases throughout the country in both federal and state courts principally in the areas of intellectual property and antitrust law. In addition to trying patent, antitrust and commercial cases, he has argued appellate cases in various courts, including the United States Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in infringement actions, frequently advises on licensing issues, and has represented patent holders in the formation of licensing pools, including those related to the DRM, AVC, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DVD, DVB-T and IEEE 1394 technologies. He is chairman of the Firm's Intellectual Property and Technology Law Group. Mr. Beeney has been a speaker at various professional associations, including the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Licensing Executives Society and Law Seminars International, and is a contributing author to various trial practice books. He is a member of the faculty of The National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
