Gail K. Boudreaux is executive vice president, External Operations for Health Care Service Corporation. She oversees each of the corporation’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans in Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, as well as the corporation’s subsidiaries including Fort Dearborn Life, Colorado Bankers Life and Dental Network of America.
Ms. Boudreaux joined Health Care Service Corporation in 2002 as president of the Illinois Division. She was responsible for Sales and Marketing, Managed Care Network Operations, Medical Policy, Contracting, Provider Affairs, Government Relations, Public Affairs and Advertising.
Prior to joining Health Care Service Corporation, Ms. Boudreaux served as senior vice president in charge of Aetna, Inc.’s Group Insurance business unit in Hartford, Conn. Before being named to that position, Ms. Boudreaux headed Aetna’s National Customer Service division overseeing the operations of 33 service centers.
Ms. Boudreaux joined Aetna in 1982 and held positions as regional manager for Aetna U.S. Healthcare’s Capitol Region and general manager for Aetna’s Pacific Northwest market that included Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
Ms. Boudreaux earned a B.A. with honors from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. in Finance and Health Care Administration from Columbia Business School. She is a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist.
Ms.Boudreaux remains active in Dartmouth College activities as an alumni interviewer and recently served as a member of the Alumni Council of Dartmouth College. While at Dartmouth, Ms. Boudreaux was a highly honored member of the women’s basketball team. In 1999, Ms. Boudreaux was named to the Ivy League’s 25-year anniversary team in basketball and Dartmouth College’s 25-year anniversary teams in both basketball and track & field. In 2007, Ms. Boudreaux received the prestigious NCAA Silver Anniversary Award, which recognizes former student-athletes who successfully competed in collegiate sports 25 years ago and went on to excel in their chosen professions. In 2003, Ms. Boudreaux was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
Currently, Ms. Boudreaux serves on the board of directors for Genzyme Corporation, Dental Network of America, Fort Dearborn Life Insurance Company, the Metropolitan Planning Council and the Board of Trustees of the Field Museum. She also is a member of the YWCA’s President’s Advisory Council and the Chicago Network, an organization of Chicago’s most influential women. Ms. Boudreaux is also active in youth activities, serving as a basketball coach in her community.
