Mr. Fields brings 35 years of civil litigation experience including more than 40 bench and jury trials to the representation of the firm's clients. His varied practice has included the defense and prosecution of almost every kind of commercial litigation, including the defense of officers, directors, and professionals in securities, derivative, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and malpractice litigation. Mr. Fields serves as a member of the firm's management committee. Accountant and Attorney Claims Mr. Fields leads the firm's accountant and attorney defense practice, representing accountants and other professionals in securities, malpractice, derivative, misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duty claims, and SEC enforcement actions and investigations. He also represented all of the then Big Five accounting firms in connection with legislation pending before the California legislature. In 2003, Mr. Fields represented Arthur Andersen LLP in a lengthy and highly publicized trial in Sacramento in a case brought by Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders alleging they were defrauded into relocating to Oakland from Los Angeles in 1995. After a five-month trial, the jury returned a 12-0 verdict in favor of Arthur Andersen. |
