Frederick Caspar Biography :

Frederick J. Caspar concentrates his practice in the area of federal income, gift, and estate tax planning. Mr. Caspar works extensively in succession planning, and in structuring acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, workouts, and syndications. Attending the Wright State University, he received his B.S., summa cum laude, in Accounting. Mr. Caspar continued his education at the Ohio State University College of Law where he earned his J.D., again summa cum laude, in 1980, and was a member of The Ohio State Law Journal. He was admitted to the legal honorary Order of the Coif, and the business honorary Beta Gamma Sigma. Mr. Caspar has been named since 1991 as one of the Best Lawyers in America in the Woodward/White publication of the same name. He is named among the "Who's Who in Law" by The Dayton Business Journal. He is also named an "Ohio Super Lawyer" in Law & Politics Magazine and Cincinnati Magazine, reserved for the top 5% of lawyers in the state.Mr. Caspar is a member of the American Bar Association's Section of Taxation, where he chaired the Proposed and Temporary Regulations Subcommittee of the S Corporation Committee (1994-1999). His other memberships include the Ohio State Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Dayton Bar Association, where he served as Chair of the Tax Committee in 1990-91. In addition to his professional memberships, Mr. Caspar is a frequent lecturer and author on various tax topics. Articles he has authored include: Weighing the Merits of Estate Freezes Under Chapter 14 and Using Installment Notes and Trusts, 2 Journal of S Corporation Taxation 302 (Spring 1992); Election and Termination of S Corporation Status: Planning With and Pitfalls to Avoid in the Section 1362 Final Regulations, 5 Journal of S Corporation Taxation 99 (Fall 1993); and Proposed Section 1377 Regulations Deal With the Allocation of S Corporation Items Among Shareholders, 8 Journal of S Corporation Taxation 123 (Fall 1996). Mr. Caspar is currently a member of the Board of Advisors for the Warren, Gorham & Lamont publication "Business Entities."
