Fred Rich heads the Firm's Global Project Development and Finance Group and, until 1 January 2006, was co-head of the Firm's corporate practice, comprising over 500 corporate, financial and transactional lawyers worldwide. He has represented sponsors, investors and lenders in relation to major projects for over 20 years. His experience includes some of the landmark infrastructure, oil and gas and metals and mining transactions during the past decades. His international practice has focused on projects in high political risk countries, and has included projects in countries as diverse as Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Chile, China, Indonesia, Kazahkstan, Kyrgyzstan, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Tanzania, Turkey, Venezuela and Zimbabwe. His infrastructure experience includes canals, ports and roads, and he has acted for private equity firms and funds making major infrastructure investments. Mr. Rich has lectured in many forums on privatization, foreign investment and project finance, and has written many related articles. He is the former Chair of the American Bar Association Committee on Privatization and a former term member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Rich is Chairman of Scenic Hudson, Inc., and a Director of The Battery Conservancy, Inc. and several other not-for-profit organizations.
