Synovus Financial Corp. has a history of growth and success that dates back to 1888.After earning his Finance degree at the University of South Carolina in 1979 Fred began his career in the financial services industry with C&S National Bank in South Carolina. He joined the National Bank of South Carolina as Executive Vice President and Regional Executive in 1991. In 1995 he was named Senior Executive Vice President of NBSC the same year that NBSC joined the Synovus Financial Corp. family of companies. He was named President and CEO of NBSC in 1998 and Chairman in 2001. In 2003 Fred was named Vice Chairman of Synovus. Fred is responsible for management of all of the Synovus banking and mortgage operations located in five southeastern states and operated under a decentralized autonomous management approach. Fred currently serves on the Federal Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. He serves as Board Member and Treasurer of the University of South Carolina Education Foundation and the University of South Carolina Business Partnership Foundation. He previously served on the board of the ETV Endowment of South Carolina and the Central Carolina Community Foundation. Green previously served on the Board of the Fifth District Federal Reserve Bank based in Richmond Virginia was a member of the Medical University of South Carolina Board of Visitors and is a past chairman of the South Carolina Bankers Association. In 1999 Green was honored as the University of South Carolina Distinguished Young Alumnus from the Moore School of Business. In 1994 he was named Outstanding Young Banker by the South Carolina Bankers Association. |
