After graduating from Yale University where he was a member of the Gold Medal Olympic Championship Eight Oared Crew, Franklin became a Naval Officer serving in the Far East during the early years of the Vietnamese War. He then began his business career at Citibank as a Corporate Finance Officer responsible for the Middle Atlantic States. He then moved into business management with Time Life for seven years, culminating in the position of Associate Advertising Director of Life Magazine. At this point, the booming demand for institutional research sales people on Wall Street attracted Franklin, who was recruited by Smith Barney to cover major investment management institutions across the country purveying Smith Barney’s research thinking. Franklin was then hired to assist in building a viable institutional effort at Kuhn Loeb & Company and remained with Kuhn Loeb in sales management until Lehman acquired the firm in the late 1970’s. As the executive search business on Wall Street began to mushroom, Franklin was brought in by Paul Stafford Associates to head up the financial services practice. He then moved to a larger firm, Handy Associates, where he carried out the same responsibilities. In 1997, Franklin was recruited by Horton International to start up their financial services effort, where he remained through the merger with Leaders Trust, a major European search firm, taking on responsibilities for the global financial services practice. In January 2003, Franklin was recruited by DHR International to be Executive Vice President and Managing Director in the New York office, with the assignment of building the investment management practice. He also maintains an office in the Charleston, SC. Beginning with Paul Stafford & Associates in 1978, Franklin has focused almost entirely on executive search in the investment or asset management portion of financial services. With multiple years of experience in the investment industry, Franklin has developed an expertise in recruiting high caliber executives for global, institutional and high net worth investment management firms. Project have included: Chief Investment Officer, Senior Equity and Fixed Income Portfolio Managers; Directors of Sales, Client Service and Product Development; Directors of Equity and Fixed Income Research; and Heads of Real Estate Investment Functions. |
