J. Frank Laiben was born in Jefferson County and attended high school in Festus, Missouri. Mr. Laiben joined the United States Navy after his second year in high school. After serving in the navy, he attended Roosevelt High School to acquire his high school diploma. After graduation, he joined Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, where he served as a machinist apprentice and completed a four-year course in basic mechanical engineering and machine shop trades through International Correspondence Schools. Mr. Laiben worked as a machinist for two years after the apprenticeship then joined management in charge of factory maintenance for nine years. Beginning in 1966, Mr. Laiben was engaged in real estate sales and general contracting as president of Coldwell Banker Frank Laiben Realty Company and Laiben Construction Company. Early in 2000, he retired from real estate and is now concentrating his efforts within the construction company. Mr. Laiben is a member of the Festus Rotary Club, Twin City Chamber of Commerce, Jefferson County and St. Louis County Board of Realtors, and served as state director for Missouri Realtors Association. Mr. Laiben and his wife, Betty reside in Festus, Missouri and enjoy fishing, hunting, boating, and relaxing at their farm in St. Francis County, Missouri. |
