Graduated from Stamford High School, Class of 1940, and received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Princeton University. He served in the Marine Corps both during World War II and the Korean Conflict. In 1947, Mr. Rich joined the family firm, F.D. Rich Company, and as President and Chairman, has been involved in numerous construction and real estate projects throughout the United States, Alaska and the Caribbean, including the company's major role in Stamford's urban renewal. Founder and Chairman of the Stamford Center for the Arts, Frank D. Rich, Jr. has strengthened Fairfield County's role as a center for the visual and performing arts. He also served as Chairman of Stamford's Ferguson Library. Appointed to the University of Connecticut Board of Trustees and serving 19 years, Mr. Rich played a central leadership role and contributed to the long effort that effort that ultimately culminated in the opening of the downtown Stamford campus. A member of Chi Epsilon, the National Civil Engineering Honor Society, he holds honorary doctorates from the University of Connecticut and Sacred Heart University. Business leader, inventor, philanthropist, community activist, and essayist, Mr. Rich is one of the leading citizens of Fairfield County and the State of Connecticut. |
