Francis Giles is a Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and Director of the Institute of Drug Development at the Cancer Therapy & Research Center and Director of the Experimental Therapeutics Program of the San Antonio Cancer Institute. Dr. Giles has authored over 400 peer-reviewed articles on research in developmental therapeutics for patients with cancer. Prior to his current posts, Dr Giles was Chief of the Section of Developmental Therapeutics at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Co-Chair of the Division of Cancer Medicine Phase I Group. Dr. Giles had previously been an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Giles received his Doctorate in Medicine at the National University of Ireland. His research focuses on the development of novel therapies for patients with cancer with a focus on targeted therapies.
