Ford G. Tamer, Ph.D. joined Broadcom in June 2002 and became Vice President and General Manager of the Switch and Security Business Unit in July 2002. In September 2003 Dr. Tamer was elected Group Vice President, Networking Infrastructure Group. He became Senior Vice President & General Manager, Networking Infrastructure Group in April 2005, and Senior Vice President & General Manager, Enterprise Networking Group in June 2006. He also serves as a director and officer of certain Broadcom subsidiaries. Previously, from 1998 to 2002 Dr. Tamer co-founded and served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Agere, Inc., a semiconductor manufacturer, until it was acquired by Lucent Microelectronics, a networking communications company. Following the acquisition, he served as Vice President, Processing, Aggregation and Switching of Lucent’s Agere Systems business unit. Prior to founding Agere, he was part of the founding executive teams at Dazel Corporation (which was acquired by Hewlett-Packard Company) and MegaKnowledge (which was acquired by IntelliCorp). Dr. Tamer received an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |
