Felix Weinacht is an associate in the Litigation Group of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, resident in the New York office. He concentrates in international commercial litigation and arbitration.
Mr. Weinacht has represented clients in U.S. federal and state courts and before arbitral tribunals under AAA, ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL and other rules. These cases have involved mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, securities, banking, insurance & reinsurance, construction & engineering, oil & gas, electricity, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals as well as sovereign entities and their instrumentalities. Mr. Weinacht is also active in the litigation of questions of civil liability for purported human rights violations and related issues of international law. In addition, he recently acted as sole arbitrator in an ICC arbitration concerning an industrial engineering contract between a U.S. company and a Scandinavian company, and he is currently sitting as arbitrator in another ICC arbitration.
Prior to joining Milbank, Mr. Weinacht was a law clerk at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, The Netherlands, and an associate in the International Arbitration Group of White & Case LLP in New York. He was educated in both the civil and common law systems and, upon completion of his judicial training (Referendariat) in Germany in 1999, he practiced with Linklaters, Oppenhoff & Rädler in Germany. Mr. Weinacht also taught classes at Jena University Law School in Germany, and he has published in Mealey's International Arbitration Report, the Journal of International Arbitration and elsewhere. Prior to entering the law, he served in a mountain battalion of the German Army.
Mr. Weinacht is a graduate of New York University School of Law, Munich University School of Law, and Lund University School of Law in Sweden. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York, before various U.S. federal courts, and in Germany. |
