Walker, a Georgia native, comes to Mercy Housing with significant experience in all areas of affordable housing development and finance. During the past 17 years, Walker has produced and preserved thousands of units of affordable housing. He has coordinated and participated in more than 60 transactions totaling more than $1 billion in financing. Walker’s career in affordable housing development and finance began in 1989 when he accepted a position as Finance Director for the Urban Residential Finance Authority of the City of Atlanta. He was responsible for maintaining the Authority’s $300 million tax-exempt bond portfolio and all of its other fiscal affairs. From 1997 to 1998, Walker served as Director of Investment Banking at SunTrust Equitable Securities where he was responsible for initiating tax-exempt housing bond transactions in Georgia and Florida. In 1998, he became Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer at the Atlanta Development Authority where he was responsible for all financial affairs, portfolio management and housing development. In early 2003, Walker started Millennium Development Partners, LLC, where he, as Managing Member, and his staff specialized in structuring and coordinating affordable mixed-income housing development projects for housing finance agencies, housing authorities and developers. Millennium Development Partners and Mercy Housing will join forces beginning Jan. 2, greatly expanding Millennium Development Partners’ abilities to serve to its current clients. Walker has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clark Atlanta University where he graduated cum laude. He and his wife, Katherine, live just outside metro Atlanta with their teenage son, Pierce. |
