Mr. Cheung was born and raised in Hong Kong and immigrated to North America in 1969. He received a B. Math. in Computer Science in 1973 from the University of Waterloo in Ontario and an MBA from Queen's University of Kingston, Ontario in 1975. He joined the brokerage industry in Toronto after graduation, passed the Canadian Securities Course and received his broker license in 1976 and later passed the Partner/Director exam in 1986. From 1975 to 1993, he held research analyst positions with several Toronto based brokerage houses with his last position at Midland Walwyn Capital, Inc., later known as Merrill Lynch Canada . Throughout his research analyst career, he had held Vice President and Director positions with different firms. In addition to these research positions, he also managed an overseas investment fund at Capital Group Securities, a subsidiary of the Banque Indosuez. Mr. Cheung left the brokerage industry in 1993 to concentrate on funding Chinese projects via North American markets. His projects included phosphate fertilizer in Hubei; Oil and gas in Northern Shaanxi; Smart IC card systems in Guangxi; and advertising in Hong Kong and China . He currently serves as director and/or officer for several public companies listed on both the U.S. and Canadian markets. |
