Erik J. Girvan is a member of Faegre & Benson’s business litigation group. Since joining the firm, Erik has managed, or played a leading role in, complex commercial cases involving Business Torts, including trade secret misappropriation and breach of non-competition agreements; Fiduciary relationships, including litigation regarding corporate governance, partnerships, and trustees; Financial Services, including credit and lending litigation and litigation under federal consumer protection statutes; and Insurance Coverage including litigation involving Commercial General Liability, Commercial Property, and International Shipping policies. Erik’s experience includes: Leading a team of lawyers and case assistants in responding to the arbitration claims of hundreds of plaintiffs that opted out of a class action related to the performance of life-insurance and investment products Representing a large commercial retailer against breach-of-contract claims through discovery, summary judgment, and on appeal. Gilman Financial Services, Inc., 419 F.3d 852 (8th Cir. 2005) Defending CSC Credit Services, Inc., a credit reporting agency, and various creditors against claims under federal consumer protection statutes.
