Eric Barger is a managing director in the Transaction Advisory Services group of FTI’s Corporate Finance practice and is based in Washington, D.C. Mr. Barger has more than 14 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) involving transactions ranging in size from several million to over $22 billion.
Mr. Barger has worked for numerous financial buyer clients including Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan, The Carlyle Group, Thayer Capital Partners, PNC Equity, GE Capital, Cerberus Capital Partners, Darby International, American Capital Strategies and Gladstone Capital Corporation. He has advised such strategic buyer clients as ALCOA, British Telecommunications, Allied Signal, Hercules, America OnLine and Smithfield Foods.
Prior to joining FTI in July 2003, Mr. Barger served as a director in the Transaction Services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers in its Washington, D.C. office. There he led due diligence teams based in over 100 different locations within the United States, Canada, Belgium, Germany, Hong Kong, Russia, Philippines, Venezuela, Brazil and Romania. Mr. Barger's acquired and applied industry expertise includes manufacturing, high technology, telecommunications, healthcare, financial services, government contracting, specialty chemicals and energy.
Prior to working at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mr. Barger held the position of chief financial officer (CFO) at a manufacturing company which was acquired by Exxon. Prior to the CFO position, he was an auditor for Coopers & Lybrand.
Mr. Barger has spoken at several M&A conferences in the Washington, D.C. area and has been a guest speaker at Georgetown University.
Mr. Barger holds a B.S. in commerce with a concentration in accounting from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. He is a certified public accountant. |
