H. Eric Bolton was named Chairman of Mid-America Apartment Communities, Inc. (NYSE: MAA) on October 1, 2002, having assumed the duties of Chief Executive Officer one year earlier. With over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, he has a wide range of both operational and financial management experience. Mr. Bolton has been a member of Mid-America’s management team since April of 1994, having joined shortly after Mid-America’s initial public offering. As Director of New Development, he contributed to the company’s aggressive growth period from early 1994 to the present, and in 1997 became President, Chief Operating Officer and a Director of the company. Mr. Bolton has extensive multi-family real estate experience in the areas of new development, redevelopment, acquisitions/dispositions and property management. He was named the National Multifamily Executive of the Year for 2002 by Multifamily Magazine.
