Enrique D. Longton is an associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation section of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. Dr. Longton has experience in various aspects of patent preparation, prosecution and portfolio management including counseling in matters involving patent validity, freedom to operate and infringement.
Prior to joining Milbank, Dr. Longton was an associate in the D.C. office of Morgan, Lewis and Bockius, LLP, and a patent examiner in the biotechnology group at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His practice focuses on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical arts including recombinant nucleic acids and proteins, genetic engineering as well as diagnostic and therapeutic methods. Dr. Longton is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Dr. Longton received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Toledo in 1987. He conducted his doctoral research in molecular biology and enzymology and earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Penn State University in 1993. Following graduation, Dr. Longton worked for three years as a post-doctoral research fellow at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals where he investigated the interactions of drug candidates with both natural and structurally engineered variants of human membrane-bound receptors. Dr. Longton is a graduate of George Mason University School of Law. |
