Ellery Joyeau brings over seventeen years’ experience to his recent position as Vice President, Human Resources for Calvert Health Partners. Prior to joining Calvert Health Partners, Mr. Joyeau had responsibility for all human resource functions for over 750 employees at 40 locations throughout the 13 states and District of Columbia that comprise TRICARE Region 1. His areas of accountability included recruitment, compensation and benefits, safety, training, organizational development, and labor relations. During his tenure at Sierra, Mr. Joyeau created and implemented executive and supervisory training programs and provided executive coaching to senior staff on an ongoing basis. He also oversaw the creation of an online distance-learning program for employees located outside of Sierra’s corporate office. Mr. Joyeau’s efforts assured that Sierra could attract, hire, train, and retain qualified staff to perform the broad range of skill set required of a Managed Care Organization. He undertook a conversion of the organization’s merit review process, thereby helping to reduce voluntary turnover by 50 percent in the past two years. His efforts to improve the effectiveness of Sierra’s hiring and retention practices contributed to a 50 percent reduction in cost and time to hire over the same period. As a result, 75 percent of all employees hired since 2000 remained employed at Sierra through 2002. While at Midland, Mr. Joyeau was responsible for managing six strategic and functional business teams on behalf of a large provider of provider and casualty insurance. At Makino, he was responsible for recruiting both domestic and international staff for a manufacturer of high-speed computer numerically controlled machinery and managed employee relations for 250 local workers at the same firm. Outside of the workplace, Mr. Joyeau is an active volunteer for United Way of Baltimore, serving on its Allocations Committee in 2001. |
