Elizabeth H. Purcell (Liza) is a Managing Director and heads the Partner Practice Group for Major, Lindsey & Africa's Southeast office. Liza's practice is dedicated solely to advising law firm partners, either on an individual basis or as a group, about the various alternatives available to them in the marketplace and representing law firms seeking to acquire exceptional partners and practice groups. Liza's deep knowledge of the regional legal market combined with a due diligence approach to recruiting ensures partners and law firms of the most thorough and sophisticated representation.
Liza received a B.A. in Economics and English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1987, and her J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 1990. She also studied at the London School of Economics.
Liza began her legal career as an associate practicing in the areas of health care coverage litigation and mass tort claims and was the sole outside counsel in the Southeast for a large national health insurance company. For ten years she served as in-house counsel for two financial services firms responsible for compliance, intellectual property, general corporate and mergers & acquisitions.
Active in the community, Liza serves on the Boards of the Warren T. Jackson Education Foundation, the Southeastern Flower Show and the Sautee Nacoochee Community Association. In her spare time Liza's passions include the North Georgia Mountains, tennis, flying, gardening, cooking, sporting clays and keeping up with her daughter! |
