Innovation and a spirit of unyielding enthusiasm are at the heart of Elaine J. Osgood's success. With a bachelor's in Education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a master's degree in Psychology from Anna Maria College, Osgood began her career serving children as a social worker and, then, elementary school teacher. After a decade, this Worcester, MA native decided to employ her knowledge of people in an entrepreneurial venture. She purchased a Uniglobe travel franchise and opened an office in Milford with one employee, no customers and travel experience that included only personal vacations. Her perseverance and unyielding dedication to customer service have catapulted the agency into an award-winning corporation with multiple locations and a list of satisfied customers that reads like a Who's Who of New England businesses. Osgood spent a decade learning the travel business in the Uniglobe system, achieving every honor the franchiser had to bestow including Chairman's Circle, President's Award, Owner of the Year, #1 Agency in America and #2 in the World! In 1997, Osgood discarded the training wheels and led her team into the arena as Atlas Travel International, ready to compete with the largest agencies in New England. She opened a larger headquarters in Milford and gave her Vacation Department more dynamic street presence. The concept store she opened in downtown Lexington offers area residents the ultimate in travel convenience and upscale travel goods. During the agency's 20th anniversary year, Osgood was named Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year in New England, as well as a Top Business Builder in North America by Fast Company magazine. As one of an elite group of leading independent agencies chosen to represent BCD Travel, Atlas Travel International is an exclusive Northeast Regional Affiliate for this $12 billion travel network. Osgood serves as a member on the Board of Trustees of Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation. Elaine Osgood's agency has repeatedly been ranked in the top tier of women-led businesses in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. |
