Elaina A. Smiley is an associate at Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP and a member of the firm’s Employment Law & Employee Benefits, Business Litigation and International Law & Immigration Groups.Ms. Smiley focuses on employment and litigation issues involving discrimination claims filed before the EEOC, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, and in Federal Court. She has worked with clients on issues involving compliance with employment laws, drafting employee handbooks, the Fair Labor Standards Act, workforce reductions and ERISA. She also represents clients in unemployment matters.Ms. Smiley also has experience in handling immigration matters on behalf of companies, as well as individuals. She has obtained Labor Certification, Temporary Visas, and Permanent Resident Status for numerous foreign applicants.Ms. Smiley is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and before the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations. Ms. Smiley serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors of Rainbow Kitchen Community Services.Ms. Smiley received her Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the Duquesne University School of Law in 1999 and earned her Bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 1996. |
