Practicing both in estate planning and litigation areas gives me perspective in both drafting plans to avoid problems and in understanding the disputed documents in litigation. I especially enjoy the challenges presented by construction litigation, where every case involves a unique set of technical issues. Ed Munson is a shareholder at Jones Waldo, and his practice includes both litigation and estate planning. His litigation cases are concentrated in the areas of probate and construction defects. He has represented architects, engineers, contractors and owners in cases involving a wide variety of construction defect claims in nine states. He has also represented corporate and individual trustees, personal representatives and heirs in disputed probate and trust matters. Ed provides estate planning services to clients of all ages and incomes. He has presented numerous seminars on estate planning and probate litigation. In 2005, 2007 and 2008, Ed was named among Utah Business Magazine’s Legal Elite for Estate Planning. Ed was born in 1960 in Huntsville, Alabama and attended school in Brigham City, Utah. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1981, and received his J.D. from the same university in 1985. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Utah and Missouri. From 1991 through 1996, Ed was a Foreign Service officer with the Department of State and served at posts in Maracaibo, Venezuela and Madrid, Spain. He speaks fluent Spanish. He is on the board of directors of Best Buddies of Utah and the Utah Planned Giving Round Table. |
