L. Edward Shaw, Jr. (62), serves as Senior Managing Director for Richard C. Breeden & Co., a multi-disciplinary professional services firm. Mr. Shaw's areas of expertise include corporate governance, risk management and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining Breeden, Mr. Shaw was Of Counsel for the New York office of Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher LLP, a leading international law firm and served as independent consultant to the Board of Directors of the New York Stock Exchange on regulatory matters. In December 2003, he retired as executive vice president and general counsel of Aetna Inc. From 1996 to 1999, Mr. Shaw was with National Westminster Bank PLC and served as chief corporate officer for North America with responsibility for overseeing its securities and banking activities in the U.S. Mr. Shaw was general counsel of The Chase Manhattan Corporation from 1983 to 1996 and, previously, served as a partner at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in New York. Mr. Shaw serves on the Board of HealthSouth Corporation, and also serves on the Boards of several educational and charitable organizations, including Covenant House, which is the country's largest private provider of crisis care to homeless children. Mr. Shaw is a former chairman of the Board for Covenant House. Mr. Shaw graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and received a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School. Mr. Shaw became an MSA director in 1999. |
