Edward Fiorentino is senior vice president, Diabetes Care. He joined Abbott in June 1986 as a product manager in the Pharmaceutical Products Division. He has held a variety of management positions in the Pharmaceutical Products Division. He was promoted to Divisional Vice President, Marketing in 1994. He was elected to the position of Vice President, Commercial Operations in Feb. 1998. He assumed the position of Vice President, MediSense, in July of 2001. In Aug. 2003, he was named Vice President and President, MediSense. His previous position was vice president and president with Abbott Diabetes Care following the April 2004 acquisition of TheraSense. He assumed his current role in January of 2006.
Before joining Abbott, Fiorentino was with Bristol-Myers for four years.
Fiorentino is a member of the board of trustees of the Allendale Association and a former member of the board of directors of the National Pharmaceutical Council. He was also Chair, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Walk to Cure Diabetes (Boston in 2002, San Francisco in 2005) and was named their "Man of the Year" in 2004. In Jan. 2005 he was elected to the board of directors of California Health Care Institute (CHI).
He earned a bachelor's degree in business from State University of New York and a master's degree in business administration from Syracuse University in New York.
Fiorentino was born in Rochester, N.Y., on October 27, 1958.
