Edward J. Ludwig is Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Becton, Dickinson and Company (global medical technology company). He was elected Chairman of the Board effective February 2002, Chief Executive Officer in January 2000 and President in May 1999. Since joining Becton, Dickinson and Company as a Senior Financial Analyst in 1979, Mr. Ludwig has served in positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of financial management, strategic planning and operations. His previous positions have included Vice President, Planning and Development from 1987 to 1989; President, Becton Dickinson Diagnostic Instrument Systems Division from 1988 to 1994; Vice President, Finance and Controller from 1994 to 1995; Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 1995 to June 1998; and Executive Vice President from July 1998 to May 1999 when he was elected President. Mr. Ludwig serves as a Johns Hopkins University trustee and chairs the Advisory Board for the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He also is a member of the Board of Directors of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. Additionally, Mr. Ludwig is Chairman-elect of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), and chairs the AdvaMed Board's Committee on Technology and Regulation. Mr. Ludwig also is Chairman of the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey, and is a trustee of the Hackensack University Medical Center and the College of the Holy Cross. |
