Mr. Chaplin is vice chairman and chief financial officer of MBIA Insurance Corporation and a member of the Executive Policy Committee the senior policy-making arm of the company. Mr. Chaplin is responsible for the company’s finance tax treasury investor relations and information technology functions. In this position he also oversees the company’s relationships with the rating agencies.
Prior to joining MBIA Mr. Chaplin was a senior vice president and treasurer of Prudential Financial Inc. responsible for Prudential’s capital and liquidity management corporate finance and banking and cash management. He was also a member of the Financial Controls Committee at Prudential a member of the Investment Oversight Committee of Prudential’s pension plans and a member of Prudential’s Disclosure Committee.
Mr. Chaplin joined Prudential in 1983 as an as associate investment manager in the Prudential Realty Group and continually took on increasing responsibilities. In 1993 he was promoted to managing director and assistant treasurer and in 1995 he was appointed vice president and treasurer. He started his career in 1980 with the NJ State Government in urban planning and economic development.
Mr. Chaplin is a member of the board of overseers of Rutgers University as well as a member of the Executive Leadership Council a business group promoting workplace diversity. A Chartered Financial Analyst Mr. Chaplin has a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and a master’s degree from Harvard University. |
