previously served as the Clinical Director of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Substance Abuse Treatment Program. In that capacity, he was responsible for developing all Substance Abuse Treatment curricula for use in the state’s prisons, State Jails, Substance Abuse Felony Punishment Facilities, Pre-Release and Youthful Offender Programs. Mr. Roberts is the author of Addiction and Recovery Education" and co-authored "Turning Point" and "Cognitive Intervention for Substance Abusers", curricula which have been implemented by state, federal and private prison treatment programs. He collaborated with Dr. Stanton Samenow on the video series "Commitment to Change: The Power of Consequences", and wrote the workbook for that series, which is utilized in treatment programs as well as probation and parole departments throughout the country. Mr. Roberts has served as a trainer/consultant for the National Institute on Corrections, and has taught in the Chemical Dependency Counselor training programs at the University of Houston, Sam Houston State University and other institutions. He received his B.A. degree from Appalachian State University in Political Science, and his M.A. in Counseling from Sam Houston State University. |
