Edward A. Ogunro, Ph.D., serves as senior vice president, Research and Development (R&D), Medical and Regulatory Affairs, and chief scientific officer, Hospira, Inc., Abbott Laboratories’ hospital products spin-off.
Ogunro joined Abbott in 1982 as a research biochemist in the diagnostics division. He held several research and management positions in the diagnostics division, including research and development manager, and program director. He served as divisional vice president, Immuno Diagnostics and Chemistry. Ogunro was elected to vice president, Hospital Products R&D, Medical and Regulatory Affairs in April 1999.
Prior to joining Abbott, Ogunro was assistant professor at Northwestern University Medical School.
He is a member of the Generic Pharmaceutical Association (GPhA) 2005 board of directors.
Ogunro earned a bachelor's degree in physiology and biochemistry from Reading University in Reading, U.K., and a doctorate degree in biochemistry from London University. He was born in 1952 and resides in north suburban Chicago.
