From 1990 to 1993 Edith E. Holiday was Assistant to President George Bush and Secretary of the Cabinet. In this capacity, she was the primary White House liaison with his Cabinet and all federal agencies. Previously, Ms. Holiday had been appointed by President Bush and confirmed by the United States Senate to Chief Legal Officer of the Treasury Department. She was the recipient of the Secretary's highest award, the Alexander Hamilton Award.
During the Reagan administration, Ms. Holiday was appointed to the position of Chief Spokesman for the Treasury Department. Ms. Holiday was Chief Counsel and National Financial and Operations Director for the George Bush National Presidential Campaign and Political Organization from 1985 to 1988. In 1984 she was named Executive Director of the President's Commission on Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Salaries.
Ms. Holiday worked for the law firm of Dow, Lohner & Albertson in Atlanta from 1983 to 1984, and for Reed, Smith, Shaw & McClay in Washington from 1977 to 1983. In 1982 she was Chief legislative advisor and policy aide to United States Senator Nicholas F. Brady. Ms. Holiday holds a B.S. and a J.D. from the University of Florida and she is a member of the State Bars of Florida, Georgia and the District of Columbia.
Ms. Holiday serves as Operating Trustee for TWE Holdings I, II Trusts. Besides the H. J. Heinz Company, Ms. Holiday is a member of the Board of Directors of: Amerada Hess Corporation; White Mountain Insurance Group LTD.; Canadian National Railway; RTI International Metals, Inc. and she is a member of the Board of Directors or Trustee of various investment companies in the Franklin Templeton Group of Funds. She is a member of the Board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute (on sabbatical). |
