E. W. (Bill) Ingram III is president and chief executive officer of White Castle System, Inc., generally considered the original quick service hamburger chain. He is the third generation of his family to assume the responsibility. His grandfather founded the company in Wichita, Kansas in 1921.
After receiving his Bacelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an Economics Major in 1972, he spent several months in Chicago working full time as a griddle operator for White Castle.
After his operations exposure he worked in the home office accounting department as an administrative assistant. He was elected assistant treasurer in 1975, vice president in 1976, and president and CEO in 1979.
Bill serves on the Central Ohio and Southern Ohio Huntington National Bank board of directors. He serves on the board of trustees of the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges, Inc. He is now an active member of the World President's Organization, as well as the Chief Executive's Organization. He is a trustee and president of the Ingram-White Castle Foundation. |
