Duke is General Counsel and Vice President of Legal and Governmental Affairs. Prior to joining The Dwyer Group® in March 1994, Duke was a litigator with a small litigation firm in Austin, Texas. Duke specializes in franchise and distribution law, including complex business negotiations, ADR, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, and proprietary rights. He successfully completed the program of negotiation at Harvard Law School and he was awarded the Certified Franchise Executive designation from the International Franchise Association. In 2005 he was recognized as one of the Top 50 In-House Attorneys in the State of Texas by Texas Lawyer magazine. Duke regularly writes and speaks on business and legal issues of interest to the franchise community. He has traveled to Capitol Hill to discuss franchise issues with members of Congress and he has been invited to speak before legislative subcommittees during the examination of possible franchise legislation. His articles have been published in The Franchise Law Journal, Franchising World, and International Franchising. Duke is currently serving a three year term on the State Bar of Texas District 08B Grievance Committee. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity University and is licensed to practice law in Texas. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business administration. |
