W. Douglas Evans, PhD, is the division vice president and director of RTI’s Center for Health Promotion Research. He is an evaluator and prevention researcher with over 15 years of experience in the study of health promotion, risk behavior and disease prevention, and social marketing and communications interventions. Dr. Evans has published extensively on advertising, news, and entertainment media influences on health risk behavior, including the effects of social marketing on behavior change and the role of news media in framing and promoting health behavior and decision making. He has worked extensively on public health subject areas of tobacco and cancer control; nutrition, physical activity, and obesity; diabetes; asthma; and HIV/STDs. |
