Doug Kiel is president of Journal Communications and vice chairman and CEO of Journal Broadcast Group Inc. Kiel’s history with the company dates back to 1986. He joined the company as vice president and general manager of the Milwaukee FM station WKTI. In 1990 Kiel was named executive vice president of radio for the Journal Broadcast Group. Kiel also served as general manager of the Group’s flagship television station WTMJ-TV for three years. In June of 1997 he was elected executive vice-president of Journal Communications. Kiel was elected president of Journal Communications in December of 1998 and took on the additional responsibilities of CEO for the Broadcast Group in December of 2001. Prior to joining the company Kiel managed Milwaukee radio stations WMIL-FM and WOKY-AM. He began his broadcasting career at WOMT Radio in his hometown of Manitowoc Wis. and later became news director of WEMP/WNUW in Milwaukee. Kiel is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Advanced Executive Program of the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management Northwestern University. |
