Doug has more than 25 years of operating experience in successful start-up communications companies. He formed Digital Television Services (DTS), an acquirer of DIRECTV rural and suburban service areas throughout the United States, which was acquired for $335 million by Pegasus Communications, Inc. From 1990 to 1996 he was president of Sterling Cellular, a consolidator of rural cellular systems that was sold for more than $250 million. Previously, he worked for Landmark Communications, Inc. for twelve years. While at Landmark, he was one of four executives chosen to start and run The Weather Channel from 1981-1988. He was a venture partner at Columbia Capital where he served on the boards of three communications and technology companies from 1999-2003. He currently serves as a director of Semx Corporation, a manufacturer of microelectronics packaging material. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his M.B.A. from the Darden School at the University of Virginia. |
