Donald Hess co-founded Amherst Systems Inc. in 1975 and helped grow the Company to more than 300 employees and $40 million in annual sales. The company was sold to Comptek Research Inc. in 1999 and is now a part of Northrop Grumman.
Currently, Mr. Hess is active in angel investing in Western New York and Southern Ontario through Amherst Tech Ventures, a personal investment vehicle for angel investments. He is Chairman of the board of directors of Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, Inc., a world-renowned biomedical research organization that is located in the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.
Mr. Hess earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT and attended the Harvard Business School Club of the Buffalo Executive Training Program and has completed courses in Business Law at the University at Buffalo.
