Donald I. Lamonds is executive vice president and chief information officer of Reynolds American Inc. and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
Lamonds joined Reynolds Tobacco in 1978 as a junior engineer. After several promotions in the engineering department, he was promoted to manager - production engineering in 1988. Lamonds was promoted to shift director - Tobaccoville in 1989 and to director of process engineering - RJRT engineering in 1993. He was named vice president of engineering in January 1995, vice president - information resources in January 2003 and senior vice president and chief information officer - information technology in June 2004. He assumed his current position in December 2005.
Lamonds began his career in 1977 as a design engineer at Rockwell International.
In 1983, Lamonds became a registered Professional Engineer in N.C. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, and is active with other professional societies and various volunteer organizations.
A native of Greensboro, N.C., Lamonds earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University, for which he is currently an advisory board member for the engineering college. He is also chairman of the CIO Alliance.
