Don launched his career at commercial printer Quad/Graphics, the parent company of Openfirst, in 1985 and quickly advanced to supervisory roles in Paper Warehousing and Paper Purchasing. In 1998, the company tapped Don's expertise to help start up a new parcel consolidating venture called Parcel Direct. Soon thereafter Don was named Manager of Operations for the company's newly built Parcel Direct facility in Martinsburg, West Virginia. In 2002, Don was promoted to Vice President of Operations for Parcel Direct's entire nationwide network of facilities employing 450 employees in 12 distribution centers.
In 2004, Quad/Graphics sold Parcel Direct to FedEx, which renamed the business FedEx SmartPost. Don remained a vital member of the FedEx SmartPost management team, serving as Vice President of Transportation. In that role, Don was responsible for all national transportation in addition to managing the company's relationship with the United States Postal Service.
Don rejoined the Quad/Graphics organization as part of the Openfirst management team in December 2006. |
