Derrick Smith’s primary responsibility is the oversight of the Marketing Informatics print and mail divisions, while his secondary responsibility is the operational development of other divisions within the company. He began working with Marketing Informatics in 1996 while in graduate school at Indiana University and has worked in nearly every capacity, in all departments within the company, to gain an understanding of all aspects of the business.
Most recently he was president of RPS Printing, purchased by Marketing Informatics in November 2005. His focus was to cultivate a thriving company both in terms of growth and operations. In December 2007, Smith orchestrated the complete merger of RPS Printing into Marketing Informatics and assumed the role of president of manufacturing.
Throughout his career, Smith has utilized his experience to develop the internal operations of Marketing Informatics. By keeping current on market trends, best practices and competition, he has contributed to the growth of the company. He has worked closely with every department, evaluated and responded to growth opportunities, developed key stakeholder relationships, established standard operating and quality control procedures, and developed cost structures for all divisions within the company.
Smith has long been involved in civic, cultural and church activities. He has served as a Big Brother, supported many non-profit organizations, and volunteered for political events. He and his wife of eleven years, Mary Katherine, are the proud parents of three daughters. He spends his personal time playing tennis and golf and reading books about business, history, sciences and religion. He earned his Bachelors degree from Western Kentucky University and his Masters degree from Indiana University. |
