Derek A. Ridgway, a partner of Cooper, White & Cooper LLP, focuses his practice in real estate transactions and construction, with an emphasis on sustainable business practices. He is a LEED® Accredited Professional. He regularly counsels in-house corporate counsel and corporate real estate executives in domestic and international matters including: the acquisition, financing, disposition and structuring of portfolio real estate transactions the acquisition, development, and leasing of office, R&D, lab, industrial and data centers the design, procurement, construction, automaton and commissioning of manufacturing facilities, industrial plants, and related facilities "green" compliance and best practices, including sustainable building and design, renewable energy, green management and LEED® certification, and the processing of energy credits, incentives, and entitlements with public agencies and utilities Over the last decade, Mr. Ridgway has structured and negotiated the design/build and validation of manufacturing facilities, including biopharmaceutical facilities, in Singapore, California and Oregon, with an aggregate construction value of over $900 million. He has also facilitated the closing of real estate acquisitions with an aggregate value of approximately $200 million, and has negotiated the leasing of over one million square feet of space throughout the United States, London and Singapore. Mr. Ridgway also provides general counsel to California-based corporations, including charitable organizations, in a wide variety of commercial transactions and contracting. Mr. Ridgway received his undergraduate degree from Loyola Marymount University, where he was nominated as valedictorian and received the Scholar Award. Mr. Ridgway received his law degree from the University of San Francisco, where he received the Cali Award for his achievements in the study of law. Mr. Ridgway is also personally licensed as a California Real Estate Broker (not affiliated with Cooper, White & Cooper LLP), and serves as a board member and officer of the Northern California Chapter of CoreNet Global. |
