Dr. Harston is also a founding executive of Altius Health Plans. He has more than 20 years experience as a practicing physician. He has been a medical administrator in managed health care plans since 1986 with responsibility for utilization management, network development, medical policy, quality management, NCQA certification, risk management, and development of clinical practice guidelines.
Dr. Harston served as Medical Director and later Associate Regional Vice President of FHP Healthcare. He directed medical affairs of HMO, PPO, and IPA delivery systems in Guam and Utah. He managed medical affairs of IPA and POS networks in the Prudential system in Richmond, Virginia. In 1996, Dr. Harston returned to Utah to serve as the medical director of Talbert Medical Group’s seven Wasatch Front clinics.
Dr. Harston received a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, a medical doctorate degree from Baylor College of Medicine, and a master’s degree of Business Administration from the University of Utah. |
