Demarcus completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois in 1991 and earned his law degree from Saint Louis University in 1997. Demarcus has participated in and managed the defense of claims for construction injuries, exposure to toxic fumes, and auto, trucking, and railroad accidents. He was a member of the trial team that defended a construction contractor in the collapse of a stadium retractable roof resulting in multiple deaths. He also participated in the defense of a railroad tank car manufacturer in a class-action lawsuit for the release of a toxic gas in a two-state area. He clerked for the Honorable Sheila M. Murphy, Presiding Judge of the Sixth Municipal District Circuit Court of Cook County Illinois, and simultaneously served as law clerk to nineteen judges who hear felony misdemeanor, civil bench and jury trials. He prepared opinions, speeches and memoranda of law in criminal and civil litigation matters. He also contributed to articles on the Domestic Violence Act, Pre-Trial Drug Testing, and Sentencing Policies. Demarcus has participated in litigation and trials in Illinois, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. He is a member of the Illinois and Louisiana State Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute, National Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. |
