From Ketchum to Calistoga, Grape Expectations to Clos Du Val, Deborah Dunlap tells quite a story. Selling her ’63 Porsche in ’79, Deborah opened Grape Expectations, a wine shop and deli in Laguna Beach. Then one day, ready for change, she sold it to head for the hills, arriving in Ketchum in time for the snow. Parlaying her retail and wholesale experience into a successful children’s boutique with three stores, she stayed fifteen years until finally winter wore out its welcome. Picking back up her earlier interest in wine and packing up for Calistoga, Deborah arrived at Clos Du Val in fall 2004. A quick study with a yen for experience, when she isn’t answering your questions about the process and intricacies of growing and making wine, you’ll find Deborah’s nose in a book or back in the cellar researching her own. If you want to catch the wine bug, she’s the one to consult. |
