Dean Hovey is president of Comprendo LLC, a consulting firm that helps emerging companies with business modeling, market positioning, and financing initiatives. Prior to Comprendo, he served as senior vice president of Pensare, the leading provider of eLearning business solutions for the world's largest companies. As vice president of business development for Caere Corporation and general manager of the company’s Imaging Products division, Mr. Hovey was responsible for Caere's expansion into the corporate intranet. He joined Caere after serving as general partner of Avalon Ventures, a premier seed venture capital fund sponsored by the leading venture firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, IVP, Sequoia Capital, and Norwest Ventures.Before entering the venture industry, Mr. Hovey was an active entrepreneur, founding a computer accessories company, Trace Systems; a robotics start-up, Elfin Technologies; and the design firm Hovey Kelley Design, now IDEO. He is the author of several patents and holds a BS and MS in general engineering product design from Stanford University. |
