Dawn Farrell is Executive Vice-President, Commercial Operations and Development, TransAlta Corporation; President of TransAlta Energy Marketing, the company’s energy marketing subsidiary; President of TransAlta Wind, the company’s wind business; President and Director of TransAlta Cogeneration, L.P.; and Director of TransAlta Power, L.P. (TSE:TPW).
Ms. Farrell leads all commercial operations across Canada, the United States, Mexico and Australia, including marketing, trading and origination, commercial portfolio management and purchased fuel supply, as well as strategic planning and portfolio development.
Ms. Farrell has an extensive history in the electric energy industry, holding roles with increasing levels of responsibility at TransAlta and B.C. Hydro. As part of her 22-year career in the industry, she has served as Executive Vice-President, Corporate Development, Executive-Vice President, Independent Power Projects and Vice-President, Energy Marketing and IPP Development at TransAlta Corporation.
From 2003 to 2006, Ms. Farrell served as Executive Vice-President, Generation at B.C. Hydro. In June 2006, she was appointed Executive Vice-President Engineering, Aboriginal Relations and Generation.
Ms. Farrell is a Director of the New Relationship Trust, an independent corporation which provides First Nations with tools, training and skills to participate in land and resource management in the Province of B.C. She is also a Director of Fording Coal.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in finance and a Masters degree in economics from the University of Calgary. Dawn has also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. |
