Dawn E. Sellstrom is counsel in the firm’s Chicago office and a member of the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Team in the HR Law Practice Group. Dawn practices in all areas of employee benefits law with an emphasis on health and welfare plans and qualified retirement plans.
Dawn advises clients regarding health and welfare and qualified retirement plans design, administration, technical compliance, fiduciary issues and third-party provider contracts.
Dawn has extensive experience with health and welfare plans of all types and sizes, including on claims procedures, medical and disability appeals, summary plan descriptions and other disclosures, flexible spending accounts, benefits in corporate transactions, subrogation and reimbursement, COBRA, plan funding, Medicare Part D and portability, nondiscrimination and privacy matters arising under HIPAA. Her experience includes advising clients on, and designing, consumer driven health arrangements, including health reimbursement accounts, high deductible health plans and health savings accounts.
Dawn's qualified retirement plan experience also includes investment policies, prohibited transaction analysis, correction programs, QDROs and plan terminations. Dawn represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. She has served as counsel to a multiemployer pension fund and health and welfare fund.
Dawn has authored several employee benefits related articles.
In General. Dawn received her J.D. from Loyola University School of Law in 1993. She received her bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Northwestern University. Prior to joining the firm, Dawn was of counsel at Seyfarth Shaw LLP. |
